What is a Teacher Induction Program?
- The MDUSD Teacher Induction Program (TISP) is a state-accredited two-year program that offers teachers the opportunity to obtain a Clear Credential.
- TISP is designed to provide a two-year, individualized, job-embedded system of mentoring, support and professional learning that begins in the teacher’s first year of teaching.
- Eligible candidates will be provided with personalized support from an experienced and highly qualified TISP Mentor.
How do I enroll in MDUSD TISP?
- Most teachers enroll in TISP during our annual Orientation event, held in late August or early September of each school year. See our Events and Professional Development Opportunities page for the next TISP Orientation date.
- If you are hired after this date or cannot attend, please contact the MDUSD Teacher Induction and Support Program Coordinators to schedule a private orientation.
Who will my TISP Mentor be?
- TISP Mentors are experienced and highly qualified educators who receive in on-going training in how to best support teacher needs.
- The program identifies and assigns a mentor to each participating teacher, matching the mentor and participating teacher according to credentials held, grade level and/or subject area, as appropriate to the participant’s employment.
When will my TISP Mentor be assigned?
- The program identifies and assigns a mentor to each participating teacher within the first 30 days of enrollment in the program.
- Your TISP Mentor will contact you by district email.
- If you haven't heard from your TISP Mentor, please contact the MDUSD Teacher Induction Program Coordinators.
How do I obtain a Clear Credential through the MDUSD Teacher Induction Program?
- Upon completion of all program requirements, the MDUSD Teacher Induction Program will send a verification of completion to your MDUSD credential analyst.
- Your credential analyst is assigned based upon your school site; see "Credentialing/Salary Placement/ Transcripts/Units/Current VOE" under the "Certificated" heading on the MDUSD Human Resources Contact page to look up your credential analyst.
- Credential analysts recommend eligible Participating Teachers to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) for a California Clear credential upon the completion.
Is there a cost to the MDUSD Teacher Induction program?
- MDUSD pays all costs for all participating teachers employed by MDUSD.
How long does it take to complete TISP?
- The program is intended to be a two-year program, completed in the first two years of teaching.
- There is an Early Completion Option (ECO) for "experienced and exceptional" candidates who meet the program's established criteria. For more information about ECO, please see the Program Sequence by Pathway page.
