Tentative Agreement Reached On The Following Three Articles:

Article 8: Job Share Program/ Article 11: Evaluation/Article 13: Peer Assistance and Review and Program Re Selection For TSA Eligibility List

The Mt. Diablo Unified School District (MDUSD) negotiation team met with the Mt. Diablo Educators Association (MDEA) team on October 20, 2021, for their fifth day of the Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiation sessions. The District team and MDEA tentatively agreed on three additional articles in the negotiation session. Previously, both teams reached a Tentative Agreement on Article 22 - Retirement Plans & Retiree Health/Dental Benefits.

Throughout the negotiation sessions, the District maintains the position that it is its responsibility and goal to continue to deliver a high-level educational experience for all students while also showing its employees, community members, and students they are valued. The District and MDEA still have differences that need to be addressed. Primarily, MDUSD is looking for cost savings to put into a salary offer, while MDEA is looking for a high salary offer without putting cost-saving measures in place.

The MDUSD team passed the following articles:

Article 25: Professional Development Advisory Committee

Article 23: Personnel Files

Article 11: Evaluation (Tentative Agreement)

Article 7: Work Year

Article 8: Job Share Program (Tentative Agreement)

Article 13: Peer Assistance & Review (Tentative Agreement)

Article 26: Summer School

Article 9: Hours

The MDEA team passed the following articles:

Article 4: Assignment/Reassignment

Article 13: Peer Assistance & Review (Tentative Agreement)

Article 8: Job Share Program (Tentative Agreement)

Article 5: Transfer

Article 11: Evaluation (Tentative Agreement)

Article 6: Class Size

Article 16: Employee Benefits

(New)Article 30: Department Chair/Elementary Grade Level Lead

While we are excited to have reached a tentative agreement on three articles in this session, the MDUSD team is committed to reaching an agreement on all articles as the District solidifies the budget projections based on student enrollment and Average Daily Attendance.

Both MDEA and the District teams continue to move closer to an agreement with each proposal.

The District team will continue to come to the table prepared and ready to negotiate, while ensuring the District is fiscally responsible today and in the future.\

Both teams have agreed to continue bargaining on the following dates:

Thursday, October 28

Wednesday, November 17

Friday, December 10
