MDUSD Takes a Stand for Equity
Posted 6/4/20

Dear MDUSD Community,

Because we care, we felt a deep, collective anguish over the killing of George Floyd that the world witnessed last week.
Because we care, we are speaking up.
Because we care, we are turning our anguish into action.

  • The Board of Education and Mount Diablo Unified School District leaders have collaborated to write Resolution 19/20-68 to be declared aloud at its public meeting on Monday, June 8, 2020.
In formal language, this resolution condemns violence, intolerance, and injustice, and reaffirms equity and humanity as core guiding principles for the district. We would encourage you to take the time to read this resolution to understand the district’s perspective and commitment.
    English Version and Spanish Version

  • The Board of Education and Mount Diablo Unified School District leaders have also collaborated to bring a renewed Equity Policy (BP0415) forward at its public meeting on Monday, June 8, 2020.

This new Equity Policy (BP0415) is not the first district equity policy, but it serves to enrich and expand upon the district’s philosophy, values, commitment to action, and accountability.

Our students truly deserve to belong, and our students deserve to be treated equally—period. We know that our staff and community share this perspective, and we are proud to take action to uphold and further these values.

With great respect,

Board President Brian Lawrence and MDUSD Administrative Leadership
