Renewed Transparency and Communication for MDUSD

A renewed sense of transparency and communication is actualizing for Mt. Diablo Unified School District, in that Superintendent Dr. Adam Clark has implemented a weekly, “Organizational Update to the Board,” with useful information for staff, our community, and of course, the Board of Education. The intention of the weekly Organizational Update to the Board is to ensure proper and regular communication and transparency for all stakeholders, establishing a flow of information which will guide conversations pertaining to organizational health and which will in time serve as a narrative-centered measurement of progress.

The weekly Organizational Update to the Board will be published each Friday on the Superintendent’s Office webpage and will be linked within the continuing Friday Letter. We are pleased to have published our first Organizational Update to the Board there; please do take the time to read it and stay informed.

Additionally, please take just a moment to sign up for our new text messaging feature through our communications hub, School Messenger: English Instructions | Spanish Instructions  We are asking our families to sign up for this feature before Friday, August 14, 2020, at 5:00PM. Look for promotional materials on social media next week to help spread the word.

Negotiations Progress - Reopening Plan Published

As you can read in the Organizational Update to the Board, the district is proud to be making progress with union partners at the negotiating table, with the end goal of establishing with each a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will define roles and responsibilities of employees for the coming school year. These MOUs are the mutually agreed-upon, enriching specifics upon which our 2020-21 distance learning program will be composed.

Still, with what the district is able to now define, the finalized 2020-21 Reopening Plan was published on July 30, 2020. Each newly completed Memorandum of Understanding will certainly help to bring more details into view; the district will post these MOUs publicly and will communicate with staff accordingly going forward.

Distance learning naturally poses many challenges for us and our community, challenges to which we are well-attuned. As we enter the Implementation period of our Roadmap to Reopen, we aim to face those challenges together and continually as best we can with the resources that we have. School begins on August 17, 2020, and beside the shared stress, anxiety, and worry that has come with pandemic adjustments, still there is excitement to connect with and educate students in our next chapter.
