Youth Employment Services
Mt. Diablo Youth Employment Services (YES) provides participants with continual service through a range of program options that help youth to reach their long-term goals. Core program elements include a Case Manager who is assigned to each participant and supports the youth to reach their educational and employment goals. The Case Manager refers the youth to services within the school district and in the community.
Students will prepare for success by participating in work experiences, ongoing academic counseling, mental health services, summer employment opportunities, job shadowing, internships, and other workshops and trainings provided by Mt. Diablo YES. The Case Manager will continue to support the youth by providing follow-up services to increase the rate of job and/or college retention.
Mt. Diablo YES serves Out-of-School youth as well. Out-of-School youth are youth who have either dropped out of high school or who have graduated and need additional assistance to reach their long-term employment goals. For eligibility requirements for Out-of-School youth, please contact the YES program at (925) 682-8000 ext. 3098.
The Social Work Specialist who oversees the Youth Employment Services program manages the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) grant and is responsible for program development, managing staff, developing community partnerships, collaborating with District, community and County programs, and creating work-based learning opportunities to support out of school youth. This Social Work Specialist is responsible for developing systems of support to ensure youth obtain a high school diploma or its equivalence and for creating post-secondary pathways. The Social Work Specialist trains staff and community partners around trauma-informed practices, an empowerment model of support, and evidenced-based practices to ensure staff have the tools needed to support youth who have experienced child abuse/neglect, sexual abuse, interpersonal violence, commercial sexual exploitation, mental health challenges, trauma and/or other social issues.
